Ansel Adams once said that every photograph involves at least two people: the person taking it, and the person looking at it. Often, landscape photographers are attempting to create an image that will allow the viewer to immerse themselves in the space and continue to explore it, gaining as much enjoyment as the photographer did from actually being there. Our 6-week landscape photography course will teach you how to plan and prepare a shoot to maximize your enjoyment. Prior planning, well done, always reduces stress. We'll also teach you how to exploit different lighting and angles to capture unique, breathtaking images of even the most photographed spots.

Our Landscape Photography course will include brief reviews of the basics of camera-slinging and the aspects of photo composition that pertain to landscape photography. We'll also go on a class field trip where you'll have the opportunity to practice your new skills in a live situation. The culmination of the class will be a show-and-tell slideshow showcasing your best work.

Included with the course are all the notes you may need to take. We already have that done for you. You will get a well-organized book with notes and information for each photography class.

This course runs only once a year, and it's possible that it may only be a one-time offering. So, if you'd like to learn to photograph the beauty of the great outdoors from us, the time to act is now.

C1MACSWFT - Sojourn in the Southwest

6 Days • 5 Nights • Mesas and Buttes and Canyons, oh my

Spots available: 8

Trip Dates:

TBA

We will spend 6 days exploring the sights of the American Southwest, enjoying the incredible scenery in and around some of the many State and National Parks in the area - and, of course, taking gorgeous photographs of it all. We will include sunrise and sunset shoots in the itinerary, too, ensuring ample opportunity for you capture breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime images. These shoots are not mandatory - if there is something you'd rather do, we can accommodate that.

We are planning to rent a van that would accommodate us all, preventing losing some folks on windy roads. Seating arrangements will be dynamic. The itinerary below is tentative and subject to the whims of weather and the possibility that not all parks are open at all times of the day. The good news is that, with so many stunning sites to visit, we will have plenty of options if we do need to alter our plans. Regardless, we guarantee that we'll give you as many opportunities as possible to capture awesome images.

Day 1:

Leaving Las Vegas. Drive from Las Vegas, departing around noon, to Page, Arizona. Providing we depart on time, we should be catching the sunset over scenic desert landscapes.
If we pass an In-and-Out Burger on the way, though, there will be a stop. That's just the way it has to be. You can consider that a blanket condition for days 2 through 5 as well.

Stay: Page, AZ

Day 2:

Antelope Canyon. We'll time our trip to ensure optimal light conditions for photographing the canyon. Following a late lunch, we'll head for Monument Valley and spend the afternoon exploring the photo ops it offers.

Stay: Monticello, UT

Day 3:

We'll spend the day capturing the breathtaking vistas of Canyonlands National Park and Island in the Sky National Park. Time permitting - and according to the will of the people - we'll also visit Castle Valley.

Stay: Green River, UT

Day 4:

Unleash your inner Peter Lik. We'll be up early to catch the sunrise at Island in the Sky on the Mesa Arch. After the sunrise - and maybe a stop for some coffee - we'll begin our return trip to Las Vegas. We'll be sure to make plenty of stops for any photo ops that catch our collective eye.

Stay: Las Vegas

Day 5:

Explore Las Vegas, cameras in hand, to see what we can see.

Stay: Las Vegas

Day 6:

Fly home with an SD card full of awesome landscapes.
