Keep On Learning - Side by side

Our Keep On Learning series is geared towards long-term immersion in learning to be a better photographer. Certain things can be accomplished in the classroom and through book learning, but to dramatically improve your skills - and thus, your photos - takes time and practice. So while our classes and courses can give you a running start in the right direction, it's important to find the motivation and inspiration to keep picking up your camera and challenging yourself to improve.

That's why we've created our Keep On Learning monthly membership series with three levels of engagement to give you the experience that will suit you best. It all depends on how much time you want to spend and how quickly you want to learn.

Within the Keep On Learning spectrum, you'll find a wide variety of opportunities to learn with us, including:

Monthly Photo Safaris

Every month, we take a field trip to somewhere beautiful, and engage in a guided photo shoot. These are typically held on a Sunday morning and last at least 2 hours. We travel to corners of the state - and beyond - that you might never have visited to capture stunning images. You'll be with a group of like-minded photo enthusiasts, and you'll have an instructor right there with you to answer any questions that may crop up. But wait, there's more ...

Monthly "Tweak and Toast" Editing Sessions

As we all learn eventually, sometimes it takes a bit of computer skill to get your photos to a level that makes them really striking. That's why we bundle monthly editing sessions with our monthly Photo Safaris. These editing sessions are held right in our studio, usually on a Monday evening approximately two weeks after the Photo Safari. You get hands-on practice editing your images, the feedback of your peers, and the guidance of your instructor.

Monthly Workshops

Our monthly workshops, held one Saturday a month at our studio, give you a chance to dive more deeply into a specific aspect of photography or photo editing. Topics will include editing images in Lightroom, both basic and advanced Photoshop editing, a DSLR refresher Class in case there's a technical aspect of your camera still confounding you, and much more. To find out exactly what topic is being covered in the current month, please visit our Schedule page. Monthly Workshops are included at no extra charge (except perhaps a small model fee, depending on the workshop) with a Photo Explorers Membership. Sharpshooters members qualify for a free monthly workshop with every three months of membership.

Twice Monthly Refresher Lesson with an Assignment

Twice a month, you'll receive a Refresher Lesson via email that will go into some depth on a particular aspect of photography. Included with each lesson will be an assignment that will allow you to practice what you've learned. You can submit these photos to us for critiquing at a Monthly Webinar. Which brings me to ...

Monthly Webinar

Once a month, on a Monday evening, we'll hold a webinar. During that webinar, we'll critique a photo that has been submitted by a group member, so that together, we can all talk about what worked well and what could have made that photo better. As time allows, the Monthly Webinar will also include a Quick Lesson that will provide some fine-tuning on a technical aspect of your practice of photography. There will be time to ask questions, too.
